Fantasy Football ScoringThe structure of a fantasy football scoring scheme varies from league to league, but it invariably awards predetermined point values for specific events. Offensive players, kickers and team defenses are often used to calculate a fantasy football participant's weekly score. Sample Fantasy Football Scoring BreakdownFor example, quarterbacks earn points for their online sports owner by throwing touchdowns and gaining yardage. Some systems deduct points when a quarterback throws an interception; others don't. Rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, passing yards and catching touchdowns are the most common measures used to award running backs and tight ends points. Usually, points are given in increments for yardage gained and in set totals for touchdown scores. For example, a running back might win his owner one point for every 10 rushing yards gained and six points per touchdown. Thus, a performance of 110 rushing yards and six touchdowns would score 23 points. Kickers generally score points only for successful field goals, with extra points awarded for more difficult kicks. Points are usually deducted from a kicker's overall contribution to his fantasy sports owner's point total for field goals missed. Finally, some systems bring the defensive aspect of the game into play. The simplest of these asks game participants to select a football club each week, awarding participants points based on the defensive performance of that club. Fewer points allowed during the football game translate into more points for the owner. Fantasy Sports Game Master offers $500 rolling cash prizes, allowing online participants to select a new team each week. Participants can ride player and team hot streaks in the hopes of getting a $10,000 grand prize. |
