Fantasy Foresight - by Roy McKenzie December 25, 2007
Week 17: The last week of NFL football is here. There are really only a few things worth watching this week:
The season is almost over and the Bears are horrible. All I have going for me this season is to look forward to picking the Ultimate Fantasy Lineup on www.FantasySportsGameMaster.com. A Great Site that pays out $500.00 weekly to the Best Fantasy Lineup, and an additional $500.00 if you can pick the Ultimate Lineup based on their scoring system. Winner for the entire season gets a $10K payout. That's a combined $27K on a year if you can clean house... that's almost like working a full-time job. Get your wife off your back and tell her, "Hey I'm working here!!!" Week 17, this is the toughest week of all to pick. Most teams are on cruise control, or don't care. The key here is finding teams still fighting for something. We have the Vikings, Redskins, Saints, Titans, and Browns all vying for a playoff spot. We have some 7 win teams fighting for a non losing season at .500, Bills, Texans, Eagles, Cardinals, and the Lions. Picking from these teams should provide a pretty solid fantasy lineup with several All Stars sitting early in games. Week Seventeen Sleepers: Derek Anderson: One of the only good QB's playing for something against a weaker team. The 49ers have had the privilege of playing choking teams the last two weeks. Don't e3cpect the same from the Browns. Look for Derek to get 300 and three TD's. Jon Kitna: I know he has disappeared over the past few weeks, but he has something to prove. He needs to be at .500 to show the Lions are not a loser team... even though a team with no running game is a loser team...um unless you are the Patriots. Look for him to go big against the hated Packers, who are playing for nothing. 300 and three td's from Kitna this weekend. Week Seventeen Creepers: Drew Brees: Drew, Drew my how far you have fallen, I think you should request a durable RB in the draft next year. That being said... Watch the game tape from GB last week; see how the ball floated all over the place. This is why real teams don't play football in Domes, because come Dec and January, most playoff teams are outside. And Foxboro, Lambeau, Heinz, and Soldier Field are the toughest teams to play. 250 and one TD... not an Ultimate performance. Ben Rothleschickenburger: He's been hot, but the Steelers aren't playing for anything now. Once they get a quick lead he will be on the bench. And really they don't even need much offense to beat the Ravens anyways. Look for an early exit form Big Ben to get ready for the playoffs. My Ultimate Lineup: Confucius Says QB: Tom Brady: Don't let Belichek fool you, 16-0 is a significant feat. A Half should be good enough for 300 yds and 3 td's RB1: Adrian Peterson (Min): if the Redskins lose, look for a big game from AP. RB2: Ladainian Tomlinson: Chargers are fighting for the right not to play the Pats in the second round. WR1: Braylon Edwards: Just because they are playing the 49ers, and he came up big last week. WR2: TJ Houshmamazingzing: Palmer will be out to prove the Bengals are better then the Dolphins... barely WR3: Randy Moss: trying to set the elite mark. TE1: Tony Gonzalez: 92 rec, and 1100 yards for a TE. Not to bad. K: Mason Crosby (GB): I am going to stick with the rookie, a finishing touch on a great rookie season. Maybe he should be MVP over Peterson. DEF: Washington: The Cowboys are playing for nothing. Look for the Boys to start Brad Johnson who has seen limited action in two years, without Terrell Owens. The Redskins are playing for everything and the Cowboys for nothing. Clean up time for the Washington Defense. Thursday Picks: There is no Thursday Game this week. Saturday Pick: NE vs. NYG Sometimes you have to go for history. Like Barry Bonds and Emmitt Smith who walked down their records. This is one we need to see broken. Mostly because I am tired of seeing that old Dolphins team every time a team goes 6-0. The Giants are locked into the fifth spot, and really have nothing to play for. They are traveling everywhere for the playoffs. Unless we get a 6vs 8 match up for the NFC championship. Look for the Patriots to hop out front early, and then sit back and pick Manning Off for the rest of the game. Patriots 31 NYG 17 Monday Night: There is no Monday night Game this Week. See you next year. |
